Acquiring a marriage certificate
This process if for people who intend to get married within the Ndola City.
One of the parties intending to get marry shall give a prescribed form to the Registrar in Ndola District not less than twenty one (21) days before the date solemnization date.
The forms of shall be supplied to any person who wishes to apply for marriage by the Registrar. Both Parties shall be required to attach copies of their National Registration Cards (NRCs) or Passports and for non-Zambians, only passport size photos shall be required.

Notice of marriage
Zambians
- 21 days or more than 21 days (Monday to Friday)
- 21 days or more than 21 days (weekends and holidays)
- Less than 21 days (Monday to Friday) e.g., 14 days
- Less than 21 days (weekends and holidays)
Non-Zambians
- 21 days or more than 21 days (Monday to Friday)
- 21 days or more than 21 days (weekends and holidays)
- Less than 21 days (weekends and holidays)

Importance of birth registration
- It’s a legal requirement
- For Primary school enrolment
- It is required when obtaining a National Registration Card or NRC, or passport
- Tertiary education enrolment at a university and college.
- When seeking employment.
- When applying for a visit for stay or work in a different country.
- When opening a bank account for child.
Procedure and requirements for registration of birth at the Ndola City Council
The applicant can come to the office for responsible for the registration of marriages or you can download a Form and complete and submit either personally or email to enquiries@cityofndola.gov.zm
Requirements
- Copies of NRC for both Parents
- Original records of birth to the child you wish to be registered.
NB. In a case where a record of birth is absent, the under- five clinic card with affidavit can be presented. Reasons for missing the required documents will be required
- If the child is above 16 years of age, a copy of the child’s NRC will be required as an attachment
- If the child is born out of wedlock, a form will be given to you which will need to be completed
- If the child was born at home (within Zambia), two independent witnesses should complete affidavit independent witness forms, and attach copies of their NRCs
- A payment of a prescribed
